Patrick joined the Board as an independent non-executive director on 18 March 2024 and was appointed Chair of the Board and Remuneration Committee on 30 May 2024.  

Patrick was Chairman of Vanquis Banking Group (formerly Provident Financial) from September 2018 until September 2023.  Previously he was also Chairman of Sabre Insurance Group plc (from 2017).  He was Chairman of IntegraFin Holdings plc from 2017 to 2018 and oversaw the successful IPO of both Sabre and IntegraFin.

Patrick was CEO of Suncorp Group Limited,  an ASX20 Australian financial services group, between 2009 and 2015 where he successfully led the turnaround of the group following the global financial crisis.  He has extensive international boardroom and financial services experience having sat on the boards of companies in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland and SE Asia.

Before moving to Australia Patrick was a non-executive director of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group plc from 2008 to 2009, Deputy Chairman at Towergate Partnership between 2007 and 2009 and a member of the FSA Practitioner Panel from 2006 to 2008.

Patrick started his career in the Army, serving for almost 20 years with the 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards.  He joined Ajax Insurance (which became part of the Aviva group) in 1988, progressing to hold executive director roles between 2001 and 2007 with Norwich Union/Aviva, including UK GI CEO where he played a key role in merging and consolidating a number of businesses into Aviva General Insurance. Latterly he was executive Chairman of AVIVA UK Life and General Insurance.
