The Virtual Medical Care service is provided on a complimentary basis to AIG Direct Insurance policyholders.

GP Consultations

Round-the-clock access to GPs for medical advice, private prescriptions or private specialist referrals.

Discuss and resolve health concerns with experienced General Medical Council (GMC) licensed GPs. 

Available 24/7, whether you’re at home or abroad.

Expert Case Management

Assessments by leading experts for complex medical cases or second opinions. 

Medical specialists to review and provide recommendations on complex cases or treatment plans. 

Personal case managers, who are GPs, will assist you through the entire process.

Register For Virtual Medical Care In 5 Easy Steps

  3. You will be directed to a third-party website to create an account 

  4. Enter your AIG policy number

  5. Download the Virtual Medical Care App via the App Store or Google Play

The Virtual Medical Care App (developed by Teladoc) gives you a simple way to book appointments and have video consultations with GPs. You can use the same login credentials that you used to register online for the app. However, before accessing certain features for the first time, you will need to complete a secure one-time ID check. When you require medical assistance, you will be sent a quick and easy process to follow, which adheres to the guidelines set by the Care Quality Commission.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Virtual Medical Care service is provided on a complimentary basis as part of your AIG Individual Insurance policy. You will not be charged for the GP Consultation or the Expert Case Management service.

There are no additional costs. Virtual Medical Care funds the cost of the service and arranges the collection, return and assessment of all relevant medical documentation when they are required. However, you will be responsible for any cost associated with any medical treatment recommended by the service. You will also be responsible for the costs of any medicines prescribed via the prescription service. 

The goal of the Expert Case Management service is to provide additional support to your treating specialist, rather than replace them. To ensure comprehensive care, it is advised that you share the results of the expert medical review with your own GP and/or consultant. Ultimately, you and your doctor are responsible for determining the most appropriate course of action based on the information provided. If necessary, the Expert Case Management service could arrange further independent opinions from other experts.

An Expert Case Management review is conducted based on established protocols and globally recognized diagnostic or therapeutic guidelines. It is highly unlikely that any information provided by the review would refer to testing or treatment that cannot be provided through the NHS or a medical insurer (if the condition is eligible).
