AIG UK Women’s Golf Academy Meets the Moment at Royal Porthcawl
A celebratory seven four-ball format marked a milestone at Royal Porthcawl in Wales.
Following an exhilarating week at the 2025 AIG Women’s Open, momentum continued to build as AIG marked a powerful milestone for the UK Women’s Golf Academy.
On Monday 4 August, just one day after the championship concluded, 28 participants — including current members, alumni, and allies of the AIG UK Women’s Golf Academy — took to the same championship course at Royal Porthcawl. The event featured a celebratory seven four-ball format, creating a memorable shared experience for everyone involved.
“To stand on that course, right after a major championship, with women and allies across our business was inspiring,” said one participant. “It was a moment of pride, connection, and forward momentum.”

Kelly Hunter, Head of Client and Broker Engagement at AIG UK, shared in a recent LinkedIn post that the event was about far more than sport. “It’s been about Meeting the Moment — a commitment to progress, inclusion, and purpose that defines who we are at AIG.”
Kelly, who is an alum of the UK Women’s Golf Academy, was joined by other alumni including Ayleen Frete, Carol Sheridan, Helen Bloy, and Vicki Harris. Current cohort members Charlotte Murphy and Susan Daly also took part in the event, further strengthening the Academy’s growing community.
Advancing Inclusion and Leadership Through Golf
The AIG Women’s Golf Academy was launched in 2022 to provide women and allies across the insurance industry — including clients and broker partners — with access to golf in a supportive, inclusive environment. Many participants are new to the game, and the programme offers both technical coaching and a platform to build confidence, community, and professional networks.
Golf, in this context, becomes a powerful tool for personal and career development — opening doors to conversations, visibility, and leadership opportunities that may not arise in traditional settings.
As the Academy continues to expand globally, AIG remains committed to creating more pathways for women and allies to lead — both on the course and in business. Whether it’s a clinic for first-time golfers or a round on one of the world’s most prestigious courses, the Women’s Golf Academy is about opening doors, building networks, and shaping the next generation of inclusive leaders.
